Etsy AI listing mistakes
AI can write a decent Etsy listing in seconds. It can also make mistakes that cost you trust or get a tag rejected. This is a checklist for any tool, including ours.
Last checked: October 2026.
1. Generic phrases
"Perfect for any occasion." "High-quality craftsmanship." "Look no further." Buyers have read these a thousand times, and they say nothing about your item.
Fix: replace each stock phrase with a fact. Not "high-quality craftsmanship" but "each seam is hand-stitched with waxed linen thread."
2. Invented details
Chatbots fill gaps. You never said the candle is vegan, or that the wallet is water-resistant, but the draft says so.
Fix: read every sentence and check each claim against the real item. Delete anything you can't back up. Wrong claims lead to returns and bad reviews.
3. Tags over 20 characters
Etsy allows 13 tags of up to 20 characters. AI models often miscount, so a tag like "slim minimalist wallet" (22) slips through. See the tag limit guide and tags not accepted.
Fix: paste every tag into a character counter. Spaces count.
4. Other brands' names
AI may add a brand, franchise or character name because it is a popular search. That can get a listing taken down and is not fair to the brand owner.
Fix: remove any name you don't own.
5. Publishing unedited
The most common mistake. Read the draft aloud. If it doesn't sound like you, change it.
What we do about it
The Listing Rewrite Pack writes only from the details you give, asks what makes each item different, avoids the stock phrases above, shows character counts, and lists missing facts. It is still AI-generated, so you must review it. See a sample.
